Chopsticks

I am always figuring out how to make the most out of the wood I use. There is always some leftover. I feel bad about that. Maybe it is the Boy Scout in me but I try to produce as little waste as possible. I hate seeing a small piece of wood end up in the trash. For that reason, I like to make the most out of the wood I have and that idea gets taken to it’s logical extreme when I end up making chopsticks.

If you use something daily, make it last

After hearing a story from a friend that grew up in Japan about how people carry around their own personal chopsticks wherever they go I thought about chopsticks I want to use daily. While great musicians have their own signature instruments, great eaters should have their own signature utensils. I made my own set from walnut, cherry, and purple heart. They are finished in a food-safe long lasting oil finish. All of them are made using only handtools.
